Redevelopment has doubled refurbishment capacity and created 40 new jobs

New smart repair facility and digital imaging turntable installed

We have completed a £2.5 million redevelopment of our operation in Livingston, West Lothian, doubling capacity at the site and transforming it into a state-of-the art technical centre.

The major six-month project included refurbishment of the existing vehicle inspection building and workshop and development of a new smart repair facility, as well as installation of new ovens, spray booths and a digital imaging turntable.

The project also involved construction of new office accommodation and facilities for staff and visiting drivers including kitchens, dining areas and locker rooms. Outside, the work included construction of a new security gatehouse and allocated areas for the delivery, collection and storage of vehicles.

Carefully designed to maximise the efficient flow of vehicles through the 15-acre site, the redevelopment has doubled Livingston’s capacity, enabling up to 400 vehicles to be refurbished there every week. It has also created 40 new jobs, taking the site’s workforce to 70, including highly skilled technicians who are utilising the latest smart repair techniques.

We operate four state-of-the-art technical centres across the UK in Wiltshire, Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire and West Lothian, Scotland, which all act as one-stop-shops, enabling vehicles to be prepared for sale – from initial inspections through smart repairs to digital imaging – as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.

“The location of our Livingston operation is important because it gives us nationwide coverage, complementing our three other sites across the UK,” explains Theo Kortland, Managing Director of Smart Fleet Solutions. “Redevelopment of the site is equally important as it gives us the capacity to meet the vehicle refurbishment needs of all the major fleet operators across Scotland, shortening cycle times and enabling them to achieve the maximum value of every vehicle.”

“By installing the most up-to-date equipment and facilities and employing only the most highly skilled people, we’re able to offer a complete end-to-end refurbishment service for our customers – or they can choose different elements on a standalone basis, be it vehicle inspections, smart repairs or storage,” continues Theo.

“As the name of our company suggests, we provide smart solutions for fleet operators, enabling them to grow their businesses by focusing on their core activities, while we take care of their refurbishment needs.”
