About the role: 

Due to the growth here at Smart Fleet Solutions and exciting new contracts we are pleased to be recruiting a Mechanic to joing our family at our Long Bennington Technical centre. 

This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to join a team of mechanics here at SFS with access to the hugely successful, extensive and progressive training opportunities happening throughout the business.

You will be a vital part of our Mechanics Team, dealing with a range of diagnostic, electrical and mechanical issues using the latest diagnostic equipment, duties would include: 

  • Diagnosing mechanical/electrical issues
  • Carry out various service repairs
  • Carrying out vehicle inspections/checks to a set standard
  • Replacing brakes/service vehicles
  • Fault find electrical issues and resolve
  • Fit tyres and balance
  • Carry out various hands on, high level leadership tasks within a fast-moving environment
  • Work closely with shift supervisors in setting weekly targets through regular planning sessions
  • Communicate and implicate work instructions effectively to the rest of your team
  • Motivate and focus the team to achieve set targets and objectives
  • Ensure end of product quality is consistent and commensurate with each individual contract
  • Sign off and verify completed work orders electronically
  • Maintain a tidy and professional working environment with a special emphasis on health and safety
  • Identify and report staff training requirements


About you:

  • With a minimum of 2 years Mechanical and Diagnostics experience 
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Who can work well within a team and on their own initiative 
  • Able to follow instructions verbally or from a job card 
  • With a keen eye for detail, quality and who takes pride in their work 
  • With a flexible attitude to working hours and overtime
