Health & Safety Advisor

Location: Cold Meece

    Salary - £28,000-£30,000

Smart Fleet Solutions Limited is a UK leading vehicle reconditioning and storage specialist with Technical Centres located throughout the UK. We were recently acquired by Cazoo; the UK's largest online-only used car dealer and now have huge growth plans in place to meet our customer demand and expand our business further.

The role will cover Monday-Friday 0900-1700 (Flexible but 37.5 hours per week) at our Cold Meece

Here’s the role:

Reporting into the Health and Safety Group Support Manager. In this role you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the Companies legal Health & Safety requirements which are undertaken to our 18001 Management System, as defined by the Health & Safety Executive. The suitable candidate will be required to demonstrate a methodical approach regarding Health and Safety, with a keen eye for detail, with the ability to work on their own initiative, communicate effectively with all levels of staff and be knowledgeable in current Health & Safety laws. You will also be the main support to the H&S Team on site, whilst encouraging the development within their roles. You will also be responsible to maintain/promote the positive Health and Safety colture within the company. Possession of a  NEBOSH General Certificate is favourable, and experience of a large working site an advantage.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

 

  • Prepare/provide monthly reports to the Health and Safety Group Support Manager
  • Undertake weekly/monthly site audits, and action any findings
  • Writing/reviewing COSHH/DSEAR/Risk Assessments
  • Ensuring all required staff Risk Assessments are undertaken and recorded
  • Creating/issuing of dynamic Risk Assessments
  • Identifying areas of concern and implementing any actions
  • Review and amend site rules accordingly
  • Creation/monitoring of all pre-use check forms on Shield
  • Write/review Safe Working Procedures with other members of staff as and when required
  • Identify gaps and liaise with the Training Manager in organising training internally/externally
  • Organise Health and Safety training as and when required i.e., first aid
  • Ensure all Health & Safety new starter inductions are undertaken and recorded
  • Organise Toolbox Talks
  • Ensure the below are undertaken and recorded where applicable:
    • Health & Safety/Fire Marshal/First Aid notice boards are up to date
    • Check/order signage, where required
    • Fire door checks
    • Daily visual audits around site
    • Ferry car administration
  • Ensure we meet all statutory regulations at all times
  • Ensure all equipment is serviced/maintained/inspected/recorded
  • Monitoring of all checks
  • Updating and maintaining the Maintenance/Service calendar
  • Ensure all actions from risk assessments/audits are completed
  • Ensure the monthly monitoring/recording of the below is undertaken:
    • Legionella
    • Lighting
    • Noise
    • LEV

 

Other duties:

  • Ensure all day shifts are covered by the Health and Safety Team, and good communications between the Team members is met at all times
  • Support the TSM, ILM, Health and Safety Coordinator and Health and Safety Group Managers as and when required
  • Ensure the Quality Meeting Minutes are completed and submitted within 5 working days
  • Coordinate and oversee ISO audits
  • Oversee/assist with accident investigations
  • Oversee/assist with near miss investigations
  • Health surveillance - ensure dates/rooms/appointments are organised and results are logged onto Cascade
  • Ensure all audit actions are completed/submitted
  • Amending the Business Continuity Plan
  • Amending the Site Emergency Plan
  • Undertake monthly Health and Safety and Fire Marshal Meetings
  • Liaising between staff and management on Health & Safety related issues
  • Creating the introduction of Health & Safety initiatives
  • Manage all external contractors
  • Organise routine fire drills

 

Here’s what we require:

  • Previous experience working in a Health and Safety position
  • Able to communicate verbally and via email in a professional and proficient manner 
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with a keen eye for detail 
  • An excellent team player but also able to use initiative and work alone 
  • Have a flexible approach to the changing demands of the role 
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Outlook  
  • OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 experience advantageous
  • NEBOSH qualification is desirable
